Welsh Mountain Cider & Tree Nursery
Producers of award winning Welsh cider and heritage apple and pear trees.
At Welsh Mountain Cider we specialize in making real cider and grafting and growing hardy apples and pear trees. Our experience in the blending of apples and pears to create fine natural cider, perry and juice gives us the first hand knowledge to help you plant the perfect orchard to suit your needs.
We stock an extensive range of heritage and modern apple and pear varieties that can keep you in fruit throughout the year. We have hundreds of types of apple and pear trees available; cider apple trees and perry pears, heritage dessert and cooking apples and pears from around the world, including Welsh apples, Somerset, Devon, Herefordshire and Yorkshire apple varieties, and locally collected Welsh apple varieties exclusive to our Welsh Mountain Tree Nursery.
Visitors are welcome by appointment. Please come and view our trees for sale and tour the orchard at our smallholding in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid-Wales.
Feel free to e-mail or call 07790071729 if you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit.
We are now taking orders for bare root trees for winter 2013/14. Trees are selling fast, so get your orders in now to avoid disappointment. A deposit of 15% will secure your order which will be lifted early in the new year.
You will be very welcome to come and pick up your trees from Prospect Orchard by arrangement, or we can post or courier trees across the U.K. and Europe for very reasonable rates.
Please note that although we graft and grow over 400 varieties, the availability of some varieties is extremely limited, so an early order will secure that rare heritage apple or pear you require. We supply a large variety of Welsh Apple Trees, as well as old varieties and modern apples from Britain, Europe and around the World. As well as adding another 50 plus varieties to our apple collection this winter we are offering a much larger selection of perry, dessert and cooking pears, both on full vigour pyrus and dwarfing quince rootstocks. All trees are grafted and grown by us at our Welsh Mountain Orchard Nurseries, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or artificial fertilisers, making them the best choice for hardiness and vigour whether in a high altitude wet westerly site or a perfectly situated balmy Devon orchard.
Take a look at our stock list to give yourself an idea of the range of Cider apples, Dessert apples and Cooking apples we have available. There is also a lot of information on apple and pear cultivation, cider making as well as a list of frequently asked questions that you may wish to peruse before you order.
Welsh Mountain Cider is made deep in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains at over 1000 feet above sea level. The finest fresh juicy apples are pressed in traditional Welsh Oak presses and are left to ferment with their own indigenous natural yeasts. This juice is matured for up to 18 months in oak casks, producing a unique cider with an uncommonly rich depth of flavour. All our cider is live and sulphite free.
